Young musician 2009

The Surrey Heath Arts Council is pleased to announce that the young musician competition will, once again, be held at Camberley theatre in 2009.

The aim of the Arts Council is to stimulate and encourage the creative arts and develop their appreciation amongst residents through out the Borough of Surrey Heath. Through facilitating various events it endeavours to show the local community the wealth of talent which exists in the Borough and seeks to improve communication and awareness between interested individuals and groups.

Many will remember last year's competition, held at Camberley Theatre, adjudicated by Mr Tim Barratt. The performances in Brass, Wood wind, string and piano were excellent, and a most enjoyable evening was had by all.  We wish all the contestants good luck in their musical careers.

For 2009, the Arts Council has changed the entry requirements to encourage wider participation. Please click on the poster to the right for more information. The adjudicator this year will be Ruth Gerald

The Arts council would like to thank SC Johnson and Chancellor & Sons for their on-going support, and also welcome our newest sponsor The Atrium in Camberley.

The Arts Council helps groups and individuals financially through two schemes, both of which require applicants to live or, in the case of organisations, meet within the Borough. Applications are considered by the Grants Subcommittee and a recommendation made for endorsement by the Arts Council.

Please see these case studies of previous recipients.

Welcome from the chairman
